Anne Curtis twerks for the first time on TV on It's Showtime 3

Concert sweetheart Anne Curtis danced her way to Twitter’s list of trending topics after she showed off her mad twerking skills in a sexy production number yesterday (Aug 17) in “It’s Showtime.”

The hashtag #AnneSexy immediately entered trended on Twitter after netizens posted about and commended her hot performance.

Right after Anne’s performance, the Kapamilya noontime show launched its newest segment “Twerking Girls,” which also generated buzz online. It is just one of “It’s Showtime’s” segments, including “Papa Pogi” and “Sample Queen” that aim to give ordinary people a chance to show their talent and make the madlang people happy.

Before Anne set the stage on fire this week, the program also offered lots of fun last Saturday (Aug 15) with its #FunnyOneMoreTime performances where the “It’s Showtime” hosts and the final five “Funny One” komikeros joined forces in several comic acts.

Vice Ganda and Ryan Rems Sarita swapped jokes about in fictional presidential debate.

Billy Crawford, Vhong Navarro, and Ryan Bang faced off with No Direction in an amusing dance showdown, while Bayani Agbayani nd Nonong Ballinan, and Anne Curtis and Gibis Alejandrino went all out in their skits.

Jugs and Teddy unleashed their inner komikeros by trading punch lines with the father-and-son Crazy Duo.

Viewers nationwide watched the special performances that it recorded a national TV rating of 17.8%, based on data from Kantar Media.

Funny One grand winner Ryan Rems Sarita (1)

Ryan Rems Sarita did not just bring home the P1 million cash prize after being named the first-ever grand winner of “Funny One.” Now, he has his very own segment on “It’s Showtime” where viewers can watch him crack jokes every day.

“How I became a hit is still a mystery, even to me. I lost in my first weekday match. I thought this was all worthless. And then I lost again. It’s okay. I’m surprised I tapped an audience that does not watch TV or does not have a TV at home,” said the former English instructor and call center agent.

Ryan Rems gained popularity in the early stages of the competition because of his signature line “rock and roll to the world.”

And compared to his fellow komikeros on “Funny One,” Ryan Rems is all relaxed on stage, a style he says he has long used even when he performs at stand-up comedy bars.

“They say my jokes are intelligent, but not really. Let’s put it like this: In a family, one member will get me. The other five will swear at me. That one person is enough for me,” he said.

Ryan Rems’ new segment is just one of the many offerings “It’s Showtime” has in store for its loyal madlang people. And since Ryan Rems started appearing on the noontime program, he has gained more fans, including women.

“Before, I already got used to receiving one or two messages on Facebook per week. Now I can no longer count them. There are women who message me things like, ‘You destroyed my world, Ryan Rems. I am all yours,’” Ryan revealed, laughing.

Despite not being comfortable performing on television before, Ryan Rems has managed to become more calm and enthusiastic on stage as people cheer him on. He also added that he is open to offers that will require him to act or star in a sitcom.

Aside from Ryan Rems, viewers can also expect projects featuring other komikeros – Crazy Duo (1st runner-up), Nonong Ballinan (2nd runner-up), No Direction (3rd runner-up), and Gibis Alejandrino (4th runner-up).

Former English instructor and call center agent Ryan Rems Sarita was named the first grand champion of “It’s Showtime’s” comedian talent search “Funny One” during the grand finals held last Saturday (Aug 8), which made the ABS-CBN noontime show the number one daytime program on the same day, according to data from Kantar Media.

The 36-year-old rocker from Novaliches, who already gained popularity at the early stages of the competition because of his signature line ‘rock and roll to the world,’ won the hearts of the studio audience and the special panel of judges with his one-liner jokes and beat fellow finalists Crazy Duo (1st runner up), Nonong Ballinan (2nd runner up), No Direction (3rd runner up), and Gibis Alejandrino (4th runner up).

“I was applying here (in ABS-CBN) as a writer but they said there were no vacancies. They learned that I do stand-up comedy and said that they will have an audition soon. I answered back and asked if I would even last an episode or two,” Ryan Rems said.

When asked what he is going to do with the jackpot, he said he will use it to send three of his nephews/nieces to school and a portion will also be spent for him to have some “good time.”

“It’s Showtime,” meanwhile, also won the ratings game last Saturday as the show hit a national TV rating of 27.1% vs rival program “Eat Bulaga” with only 21.1%.

“Funny One” is a segment in “It’s Showtime,” which aims to find the best Filipino comedic acts and give budding comedians a chance to have their spotlight on the small screen.
