The director of "Ang Pagdadalaga ni Maximo Oliveros" ("The Blossoming of Maximo Oliveros"), Kanakan Balintagos (the filmmaker formerly known as Auraeus Solito), unveils his provocative new military corruption drama entitled “Esprit de Corps,” starring Sandino Martin, Lharby Policarpio and JC Santos.

“Esprit de Corps” is one of the ten new Filipino films competing in the 2014 Cinema Originals Film Festival happening from November 9-18 at Trinoma, Glorietta, Fairview Terraces and Greenhills Dolby Atmos Theater.

The film tells the story of cadets Cain and Abel who are vying for the coveted position currently held by Major Mac Favila. Direk Kanakan elaborates that it is “a corruption-seduction drama set in the military in an all-boys’ school, one year before President Ferdinand Marcos fell from power.”

While Cain and Abel (Lharby and Sandino) do everything they can to obtain the powerful rank, a unique bond develops between them. “Esprit de Corps” is Kanakan’s eighth feature and is based on the very first play that he wrote when he was only 17. For this film, he is collaborating with notable names in the industry: cinematographer Louie Quirino and editor Lawrence Fajardo.

Catch “Esprit de Corps” at the 2014 Cinema One Originals Film Festival. For exact screening schedules, refer to the Cinema One Originals and Cinema One Channel Facebook pages, check out www.sureseats.com (for Ayala cinemas) or call tel. 722-4496/ 722-4532/722-4501 (for Greenhills Dolby Atmos).
