On November 21, 2014, Friday, the Philippine Small & Medium Enterprise (PhilSME) Business Expo 2014 - “Boost Your Business”, the country’s largest business-2-business trade show, conference and networking event for Small & Medium Enterprises (SMEs), was officially launched at Hall 1, SMX Convention Center Manila, Pasay City. On its second year, from November 21-23 (Friday to Sunday), over 200 local and international companies exhibited.

Gracing the event was Honorable LOREN LEGARDA, who is also an advocate for Filipino SMEs. Known personalities from the business community attended the opening and ribbon cutting ceremonies.

“We aim to put together under one roof SME business owners, senior level executives, professionals, government agencies, trade associations from the Philippines and the ASEAN region to collaborate in order to boost businesses and the Philippine economy at large. The ASEAN economic community will become the 7th largest economy in the world with a combined consumer market of over 600 million people and we will do everything we can to help small businesses to get access to this market and become globally competitive,” said David Abrenilla, founder and managing director of Philippine SME Business Expo and CEO of MEDIACOM SOLUTIONS, INC.

Highlight of the opening ceremony was the PhilSME Brand Awards 2014, recognition of distinguished brands who continue to manifest excellence in their respective industry sectors. Special recognitions were given to the top 10 companies for their continued support and outstanding contributions to the SME community, namely GLOBE, BAYAN TELECOMMUNICATIONS INC., FOTON PHILIPPINES, PLDT SME NATION, CUROTEKNIKA INC., REGUS PHILIPPINES, NEWDATCHE PHILS. TRADING CORP., ESQUIRE FINANCING INC., BENCHMARK EMAIL and 2GO EXPRESS.

Another highlight of the event was the Philippine SME Business Conference on the first day of the expo. Major topics discussed during the conference were the readiness of the Philippines in the upcoming ASEAN integration; the Power of Online Retailing: How to Turn Clicks into Customers; Doing Business With a Big Heart: How to Build a Social Enterprise; Start-Up Talk: Turning Ideas into a Multi-Million Business; How to Market your Small Business to a Global Audience; Taste Of Success: How to Build and Run a Food Business; and Financial Planning for Start-Up Businesses.
